Buying My First Home

After 18 years of teaching in our public schools and 17 of those years in the same apartment, I am ready to have my own home.  A place to call my own.  A place where my friends, family, and chosen family can come visit, create memories, and even stay if they wish.  I want it to feel like their home away from home.

While I have saved as much as possible on a teacher's salary, it is still not quite enough for a down payment.  I would prefer to keep my savings since it and my retirement are my only nest egg.  Therefore, I'm asking for help.  It seems incredible, but for every $10,000 down it will only bring down your monthly payment by about $80 dollars.  This is why my goal is $40,000 for a down payment.

I have a brief window to buy a house because if you have lived in an apartment before then you know that in order to move out you must give a 60-day notice.  I am due to give my notice on May 1, 2020.  Not much time at all!  But, when there are no other options, you try what you can to make your dreams come true.

So, if you decide to give I am indebted to you and will be forever grateful.  Your generosity will not be forgotten and will be paid forward.

Sincerely and gratefully,
