Essential First Home Renovations - Making our new house a home!

Hello!

We're buying our first house! It's so exciting. The house is adorable, spacious, and really solidly built.

That said, it was built in 1926...

There are a few issues that we'd like to resolve with it, as follows:

  • The house has a fuse box. Some folks might not even know what I'm talking about here. There are these round glass fuses that help regulate electricity flow, but they break when the load gets too high. So if you try and run a the washer, dryer, furnace, and a curling iron at the same time. You need to go to the basement, grab your flashlight, dig through a box of fuses, pull out the old one, and replace it. This just isn't a good idea, which is why they invented the circuit breaker. Priority one: replacing the fuse box with a circuit breaker.

  • The kitchen has no dishwasher or garbage disposal. With the two of us and Izzy, this would mean a massive amount of extra work. After the wiring is taken care of, we'd love to set these up and make our lives a little easier.

  • The refridgerator is a throwback to the 90s. The seal around the door is decaying, and the whole thing really needs to be replaced.

  • The house, in this ever-hotter climate, has no air conditioning, and the furnace and water heater are 15+ years old. We'd love to install an A/C unit, as well as replace the furnace and water heater. Fortunately, the insulation is great, so this should be a relatively simple thing to take care of.

  • Lastly, there's no garage. I'd love to add one, or at least put a carport up.

We'd appreciate it soooooooooooo much if you could find it in your heart/budget to give us a hand! This is our first time trying to crowdfund anything, so if you have any suggestions or feedback, we'd love to hear it! All donors will receive updates as we complete projects, so you can watch as we turn our house into a home!

Thank you,
