Finally a house for myself and my hero..my son Elijah
I was recently pre-approved for a home for the first time in my life. I am a Hospice Nurse and single mom to my hero Elijah who has beaten CNS Germinoma Brain Cancer twice. He has now been in remission for 2.5 years. During his treatment my credit plummeted as I could not work for over a year due to my son having three back to back stem cell transplants in which I had to live in the hospital with him until they were complete. I'd not have had it any other way. We relied on our community to help get us through this very difficult time and were in awe of the support received. Now,, 2 years later I've been working long enough to get my credit score up enough to qualify for an FHA loan but am having a very hard time saving for the down-payment and closing costs. Houses are gone before I can even get there to take a look. Sellers market they say but harder for FHA because everything has to be next to perfect in order to get the loan and seems as though most sellers prefer conventional loans. We are currently in a very small rental (860 sq feet) but our location is expensive so saving up 7k is proving to be very difficult. I am hoping..but not expecting to get any help at all so that we can finally have a "home" of our own. We have no extended family to help and I don't know where else to turn. Anything at all or even advice is so appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read about us. I'd like to add more photos and I will once I can figure out how to add multiples without deleting the first one. My cover photo is my son when he was diagnosed and then six months after treatment. I cannot explain in words what it feels like to know that he is healthy. Now that we are out 2.5 years, I feel "safe" in many ways but also always waiting for it to return. I'll probably always feel this way. The one thing in my life I'd really like to have is a house for the both of us to start over and make new memories.
