This might seem like an odd request, since it really isn’t for me.

My job is to find homes to place the homeless and disenfranchised into under the guidelines of the Department of Social Services, Section8 and some with SSI incomes. With the rental amounts allowed under these guidelines it gets harder and harder every day to find adequate, clean, and safe housing for them. The rentals are between $400. To $600 under the available market rents.

 As I drive around neighborhoods to see these apartments I pass all the vacant, boarded, and unwanted properties, that I say to myself “These would make perfect homes for my people”, so I go and “shop” funding with banks and private lenders to purchase and rehab these properties, without a decent size down payment (minimum 20%), good credit and personal funds for the rehabs the deals won’t work with their rental allowances to pay the mortgages back. Currently I have 387 people, which is about 100 families in my facility.

So as you can see by what is written I’m looking for funding to purchase and rehab properties to house the homeless that we have here in Suffolk county, most of them have not chosen to be this way, life issues, death of a spouse, Super storm Sandy (mastic was one of the hardest hit) and Domestic Violence, some due to foreclosure on the landlord (who paid their rent on time every month)

Think about how long it would take you to lose everything you have and be in their position. " We give beacause We have"
