Seems a bit strange to crowd fund money for our home, but stranger things have happened right? Even with that said, I’ve been on this same screen for thirty minutes trying to figure out what to say, how to say it, and how to convey it in a way that doesn’t make it seem like I’m asking for a handout.

If you know Kirsten and I, you know that we have a huge undertaking ahead of us. For the past 2+ years, we have been tirelessly working towards our dream home. Normally, when I tell someone that we are building our own home, they don’t take it in the literal sense that we are actually building our own home (hammers, nails, power tools - you get the idea). Every weekend is spent building and planning, planning and building.. it’s a never ending cycle.

Now, with all of that being said, you’re probably wondering what this is for, and what you’re reading. Even though we’ve made huge amounts of progress during this time, we still have a long way to go it seems. 

Currently, we nearly have the exterior completely finished (minus the boards for the deck). The interior is bare bones: rooms are framed, no insulation, basic electricity to run power tools, no water, plumbing, etc. Kirsten and I are doing the best we can with what we have. We can certainly finish this project on our own eventually, but we arent sure when that would be. We would love to have our home to come back to, a place to start a family, and move on with our life. 

Anything that you could graciously give, would help us expedite our home and allow us to move forward with our life. It’s not normal for either of us to ask for assistance, so writing this up is awkward and humbling. Anything that we raise would go strictly to the house during construction: siding, drywall, insulation, hvac, electrical, etc.
