I am a single mom with 2 kids. When people hear single mom, they sometimes think the dad is around, but no. I have my kids 24/7 and boy are they growing. My son is 11 1/2 and my daughter is 8. We currently live in a SMALL 2 bedroom apartment in NYC. 2020 caused reality to hit and as I watched my children grow, I realized they deserve to have a home with a backyard. It's sad saying to my daughter we can't go for a walk at 5PM because it's dark out and not safe. My kids are outdoors type. We love going for walks, visiting new places the car can manage to get to and meeting new people. I really want my kids to see that it is possible to look like us and be able to have a house. Everyone we know lives in an apartment and it becomes the norm to rent your entire life, but I don't want that for my kids. I want them to have their own room. I want them to be able to go in the backyard and lay in the grass and do their homework. I would like to lay on the grass and read a book. Prospect Park and Central park are great for those things, but they are crowded and noisy and only the safest during the day. Being a single mom and doing things on my own shouldn't be the reason for why I can't afford a downpayment for a home. Being a single mom and doing things on my own shouldn't be the reason for why my kids can't have their own room and their own beds. Being a single mom and doing things on my own shouldn't be the reason why my daughter has to sleep in my room.
Help me give my son and daughter a chance to have a yard and beds of their own. Thank you.
