My father bought a rental home in northwest Detroit in 1968 from an estate sale after the original owner passed away. He rented it out for years, until his uncle passed in 2008. He maintained it until his health started failing in 2017.  He died in May 2020, and I inherited the house. I am currently cleaning the house out, but it needs a lot of work, including basement cleanout,  possibly three new water heaters (it is a three family flat, each pays their own water, heat and light bills), replacing the front steps, and much more.
